In PowerShell, I see that "Enable SMB2Protocol" is TRUE.does SMB2 need to be disabled?.In PowerShell, I see that "EnableSMB1Protocol" is FALSE.so maybe that's my problem?.I verified SMBv1 is turned on in "Turn Windows features on or off" in which "SMB 1.0/CIFS Client" is checked (but "Automatic Removal" and "Server" are UNchecked).Asus text shows that to be correct.Thank you, everyone, but I'm still getting nothing.
I'm not entirely happy with running SMBv1 on Windows 10 anyway, because I've read it introduces a major security hole.Ĭan anyone offer any advice to allow read/write access to it from Windows 10? And also, am I correct to be reluctant to keep SMBv1 enabled? Any workarounds? However, I have not disabled SMBv2, so it might be defaulting to that. When setting up the media server, Asus text in the admin utility said I need to enable SMBv1 in Windows 10. Basically, it recognizes it as the same IP as the router and only that. However, when I double-click the same network location from Windows 10, all that happens is Firefox is launched and the Asus admin utility appears. I'm pretty sure I've got it set up properly on the router as a media server, because I can access media files just fine with my SmartTV. I'm trying to set up a network-attached storage device via the USB port on my Asus router. I've spent a couple of days on this now, but I'm at a loss.
